Canadian Symposium on Family Planning

Inspired by the great turnout from Canadian students at last year’s Medical Students for Choice Conference on Family Planning, the MSFC chapters at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine have joined to organize and host a Canadian Symposium on Family Planning. The aim of this symposium is to provide Canadian medical students with up-to-date information on abortion in Canada, including hands-on training opportunities and a chance to learn from Canadian physicians who are doing their part to improve reproductive healthcare for women.

In Canada, we are privileged to have a healthcare system that provides women with free reproductive healthcare and family planning services—but we know that improvements can always be made. One way of ensuring equitable and timely access to patient-centered family planning services for all women is increasing the number of trained abortion providers. We hope to equip delegates with the skills needed to not only be excellent clinicians but also advocates for our patients and for the health of women in Canada. Come join us in Ottawa in January—we hope to see you there!
